To do this, we look at the environmental events that occur before and after problem behavior to identify why the individual is engaging in problematic behaviors. We individualize our assessment procedures based on factors such as the client’s age, setting, and behaviors of concern.
Assessment procedures can include:
- Direct observation/descriptive assessment
- Functional analysis
- Trial based
Once we identify the environmental variables that make the problem behavior more likely to occur, we will help develop an individualized treatment plan that will be feasible for the caregivers to implement and maintain in the client’s natural environment. We will systematically evaluate the treatment’s effectiveness and train all caregivers and other individuals that may need to implement the procedures.
